None of g-ma unfortunately, she was not feeling well due to the chemo she had earlier that week and decided not to make herself present.  It was probably a good idea because there were a lot of us there.  The pink hats were made and provided by my aunt who came up from Texas.  She made sure that she got pictures of everyone in a hat…as did I!

GRAW….oh and don’t get me started on ARNOLD….Do you remember when Brad & Angelina first were “rumored” as being together and there were stupid little people who would get into battles about the whole “Jennifer vs. Angelina” thing…I mean they even made stupid t-shirts!!!! (yes I have a friend who has one….dont remember which side she was on…no she is not stupid…but that WAS stupid)  Anyways….our presidential election is going to come down to stupid 18-24 year olds voting on which candidate is related to which ACTOR…for FUCKS SAKE….there I said it…..pisses me the fuck off!!!!

Strange Alabama State Laws

Filed under: Weird State Laws — Tags: — mytymaker @ 3:23 am
  • Bear wrestling matches are prohibited.- Bear wrestling, many years ago, was a crude form of entertainment that had to be delt with. It not only subjected bears to harsh conditions, but also risked the bears’ lives as well.
  • Incestuous marriages are legal.
  • You may not drive barefooted.
  • Dominoes may not be played on Sunday.
  • It is illegal to wear a fake moustache that causes laughter in church.
  • Putting salt on a railroad track may be punishable by death.
  • Boogers may not be flicked into the wind.
  • It is legal to drive the wrong way down a one-way street if you have a lantern attached to the front of your automobile.
  • You may not have an ice cream cone in your back pocket at any time.

The following are for individual cities: AnnistonYou may not wear blue jeans down Noble Street. Auburn

Men who deflower virgins, regardless of age or marital status, may face up to five years in jail.

I don’t have the reasons the other laws are in place (especially the ice cream in the back pocket) but I will attempt to research my ass off to find them…and if any of them have been removed from the law books as of lately J enjoy!

Do men realize that women are crazy

Filed under: crazy talk — Tags: — mytymaker @ 3:12 am

There are many reasons that women are just simply crazy….We obsess continuously over shit…and yes, literally shit sometimes.  Really, the most mundane useless things we could worry about…we do.  I think we also read into EVERY situation just a little bit too much…and then we panic about it, CONSTANTLY.We fear that people are talking behind our backs and want friendship and then we turn around and talk behind those friends backs with people we despise. Most women reading this prolly assume that I am smoking crack…but you know I am right…hence why the very FEW female friends that I have are either MATURE MOTHERS or believe that all women are crazy just like me….and I promise you we are!

“Covering hair is part of the jewelry of getting married – you get a chattan (groom), you get a ring and you get a shaitel (wig).”
The importance of modesty in dress and conduct is particularly stressed among girls and women in Orthodox society. Many Orthodox women only wear skirts and avoid wearing trousers, and some married Orthodox women cover their hair with a wig, hat, or scarf.

In Modern Orthodox practice it is generally accepted for sleeves to reach the elbows and shirts to cover the collarbone, skirts to cover the knees with or without tights, and not wear pants in the presence of men. Socks are considered optional, based on the concept of minhag hamakom (custom of the community).

Haredi women avoid skirts with slits, preferring instead kick-pleats. They also avoid overly eye-catching colors, especially bright red. Some insist on closed-toe shoes and always wear stockings, the thickness of which varies by community. In some Haredi communities women wear loose vests over shirts.

My cousin came in from Denver this week to visit our grandmother who, as you all know, has fallen ill.  Several years ago my cousin reformed to Judaism to marry the man she fell in love with.  I have never been knowledable of this religion however when I saw my cousing wearing a wig last night and found out it was part of her faith…well I felt like I knew nothing.  So of course I had to attmept to google it (and it should say something about the company that I work for that every Jewish website is ACCESS DENIED-except Wikipedia).  Anyways last night I found out that only in the presence of her husband, husbands immediate family and her immediate family (dad, mom & sisters…but not sisters husband) is she allowed to display her hair (gorgeous LONG SPIRAL CURLY HAIR) and her skin.  She must b fully covered and under no circumstances show her collar bone!

I have no problems with people’s religious beliefs (as long as they dont involve the killing of innocents….human or animal) so dont take this as a rant.  I am simply saying is WOW THATS LOVE and I am just surprised…never knew that about the Jewish faith…..just thought it was the typical “Kosher” stuff :P

Fun Dutch Holiday

Filed under: crazy talk — Tags: — mytymaker @ 12:45 am

Does NOT exsist.  I wanted to find something that would be equivalent to oh Saint Pattys day, or Cinco De Mayo or even US Memorial day/ 4th of July/ Labor day….and NADA!

Date English Name Dutch Name Remarks
January 1 New Year’s Day Nieuwjaar The day before is called “Old Year’s Day” and not “New Year’s Eve.”
March/April Good Friday Goede Vrijdag The Friday before Easter
March/April Easter Pasen The Dutch celebrate two days of Easter (on Sunday and the subsequent Monday).
April 30 Queen’s day Koninginnedag Originally, Koninginnedag was celebrated on the birthday of the queen,
Queen’s day is nowadays celebrated on the birthday of the late Queen-mother (Juliana), as better weather is expected. If April 30 is a Sunday, Koninginnedag is celebrated on the April 29.
May 4 Remembrance of the dead Dodenherdenking Remembrance of all members of the armed forces and civilians of the Kingdom of the Netherlands who died in war situations or peacekeeping missions since the outbreak of the Second World War.
May 5 Liberation day Bevrijdingsdag Celebration of the 1945 capitulation of German forces in World War II. Celebrated every year, but as of 2000, an official holiday once every 5 years.
40 days after Easter Ascension Day Hemelvaartsdag
7 weeks after Easter Pentecost Pinksteren The Dutch celebrate two days of Pentecost (on Sunday and the subsequent Monday).
December 5 Saint Nicholas‘ Eve Sinterklaas A predecessor of Santa Claus, Sinterklaas gives presents to the children. This is not an official holiday but it is widely observed.
December 25, December 26 Christmas Kerstmis The Dutch celebrate two days of Christmas: Eerste Kerstdag (the first day of Christmas) and Tweede Kerstdag (the second day of Christmas).

So they ONLY thing that i could use is the fact that they celebrate Easter on Sunday and that Monday….but how much sense would it be to celebrate Easter twice when i dont even consider myself catholic?!?!?! Anyways….did you notice that they have a holiday that they acknowledge every 5 years??? hmmmm interesting.  Can someone please point out something cool about being dutch….besides the clogs!
