High Tea turn Spa Day turn Zombie Crawl???

Amaya’s 11th birthday is kind of a blur to me…it came, it conquered, it destroyed my house, it left.

The night before I spent a few hours making tissue poms and flowers that I found on Martha’s website and while she may have had to serve time man does she know her shit!  Mine turned out pretty well if i do say so myself!

Made these for Amaya's High Tea birthday party

Fortunately I had some big help getting ready, my g/f from WAY el norte was coming down the day of the party for a wedding and offered to make the mini cupcakes that I decorated using homemade fondant found here.  It was surprisingly easy and I also made some to use on her cake (not so easy).  The decorations were easy, most of the plates and cups came from my great grandmothers set (that I now own) but some came from goodwill because I wanted a variety.  The flowers and vases came from one of my sisters weddings a few years ago…thank goodness mom is a pack rat.  The tiered plate holder was a steal at Target for $8! and then I found some cute funky plates for about $1 each.  The food wasn’t that hard either…the swirls were in the frozen isle at Cub ($11.00), then I made pb&j and cut into cute little shapes and I made cucumber sandwhiches with a lemon dill mayo and cut into triangles.

Tyson was even involved by playing our Matre D…he would walk around with a bowl for the girls to put their tea bags and garbage into.

The BEST Matre D ever!

and then came the spa portion.
The girls got to surround my new jacuzzi tub and then get their feet scrubbed…even Tyson did it…but dont tell any of his guy friends!  Then we painted their nails and put on make-up.  When I decided to get ahead of the game and do dishes my darling daughter decided that it was now time for a zombie crawl and they did up their make up like so

ZOMBIES...in pajama's?

The girls also left me a nice present of getting make up ALL OVER my biege carpet…so for an hour I got to scrub carpets while the girls watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I’m going to skip the sleepover portion…but the next morning we had breakfast, I made cinnamon twists and we had leftover fruit kabobs.  Then the girls went home, I had a mental break down, then prepared to get the house ready for the “Family Pasta Bar Party”.  yes…two parties…we love our family…what can i say.  Again…thank god my mom and sister were there to help because I was seriously DEAD like the zombies the girls dressed up as the night before.  I could barely eat or move…but I did manage to get her cake done…and doing cakes with fondant are A LOT HARDER than cupcakes…it thins out, icing shows through and just cant get as smooth…then again, this was my first cake.

She's OBSESSED with Smallville and Superman

All in all…a success…however, I may never do it again unless I pay for a service to take care of the whole thing!
